Diabetes Ireland understands from the Department of Health and Children, the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) and the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) that accessibility to diabetes medicines and devices will continue regardless of Brexit’s final position.

The Department of Health and the HPRA are in constant contact with wholesalers and marketing authorisation holders to ensure supply. The HPRA regularly provide an update on medicines that are in short supply, and no diabetes medications are listed there.

There is a further Brexit stakeholders meeting on the 1st of February 2019 for industry professions to continue discussions and to ensure supply. If we receive any updates with new information, they will be posted on our website.
