Are you considering using diabetes technology? Are you using a CGM or insulin pump but thinking of changing a device? Do you want to see other people with type 1 diabetes? Then come and join the Diabetes Technology Network Ireland meeting!

Diabetes technologies such as CGM, insulin pumps and hybrid closed systems are improving the lives of people with type 1 diabetes. The landscape of technological devices is changing at an unprecedented pace from having limited access to Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and poor awareness of insulin pump therapy only a few years ago to today where there is an unprecedented expansion in access to CGM and the dawn of Hybrid Closed Loop ‘artificial pancreas’ systems.
However, there are not many opportunities for people with Type 1 diabetes and their families to learn about the benefits of the various technologies direct from diabetes healthcare professionals. This year, Diabetes Technology Network Ireland (DTN IRL) and Diabetes Ireland will be hosting a series of information and awareness meetings nationwide so people living with Type 1 diabetes and parents/carers of children with Type 1 diabetes can hear directly from healthcare professionals to:
– learn about the benefits of diabetes technology
– explore how it enables you to manage your diabetes more effectively
– learn about the various technologies currently available in Ireland
– hear about the latest research developments in managing Type 1 diabetes; and
– be able to physically see, touch and feel the technology and speak directly to the various technology company representatives

Our hope is that these meetings will empower attendees to make an informed decision in conjunction with their diabetes team on the technology that best meets your clinical needs and fits best with your lifestyle.

The first of these meetings will be held in Croi House, Galway on Tuesday 25th February at 6.15pm. Presenting on the night will be Consultant Endocrinologists Dr Tomas Griffin and xxx from Galway University Hospital.
