Free“Managing My Type 2 Diabetes Effectively”
Diabetes Ireland will hold an information meeting on “Managing My Type 2 Diabetes Effectively” and will be of benefit to all people living with type 2 diabetes, their families, carers and friends.
Venue:Sligo Park Hotel, Dublin Road, Sligo
Time and date:Wednesday 18th February 2015 @ 7pm
Expert speakers will include Dr McHugh Consultant Endocrinologist, Sligo Regional Hospital who will provide some insight into the various medications used to treat Type 2 diabetes. Pauline Dunne a Senior Dietician and Regional Development Officer with Diabetes Ireland will discuss what you need to know about carbohydrates and their role in controlling your blood glucose levels. We will also benefit from expert advice from Ms Emily Madden a Podiatrist from Sligo Regional Hospital with tips on how to avoid diabetes related foot ulcers, most of which are preventable.
This information meeting will provide people with type 2 diabetes access to expert medical advice in a pleasant, supportive environment. On the night we will provide you with information that you will then be able to apply to your daily life and enhance your ability to manage you diabetes on a day to day basis thus improving your quality of life and preventing short and long term complications of diabetes. Learning how to manage your type 2 diabetes effectively, can help you have a balanced lifestyle and live life to the full while achieving optimum control of your diabetes.
On the night we will also highlight available support networks such as Diabetes Ireland and the diabetes team in the hospital and the community so that people with diabetes know where to access help and support locally. A great deal of support can be obtained from meeting with other people living with Type 2 Diabetes.
