Evening Meeting for Adults living with Type 1 Diabetes

This meeting will take place in The Ferrycarrig Hotel, Wexford on Wednesday 4th of March at 7.15pm.

Dr Obada Yousif, Consultant Endocrinologist, Wexford General Hospital will open the meeting, Diabetes Nurses Mairead Fenlon, Elizabeth Cullen and Dietitian Ms. Therese Hogan will be in attendance. You will have an opportunity to speak with health professionals during the evening and meet others from the area living with Type 1 diabetes.

7.40pm- 8.30pm Workshop 1: Emotional Support and Wellbeing with Type 1 diabetes
Facilitated by Ms Kate Gajewska
Kate has Type 1 diabetes and works as a Psychologist. This workshop will allow you to explore your feelings around living with diabetes and reflect on your coping skills in a supportive and informal environment. You will have an opportunity to give feelings about diabetes a common language, how to recognise and avoid diabetes distress/burnout and identify coping mechanisms for diabetes stress. The workshops will be in small groups, so you can seek support from other adults living with diabetes.

Facilitated by Ms Vicky Doyle
Vicky has Type 1 diabetes. She is an advocate for Young Adults with Type 1, and is part of a Support Group of Young Adults with Type 1 in the Dublin area. Formerly working with Diabetes Ireland, now Health Promotion & Improvement Officer with HSE.
