LISMORE – Education for Type 2 and Prediabetes

freeCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed Pre-diabetes. CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting.
The programme is facilitated by Jenny Dunbar, Diabetes Nurse Specialist and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks
The course will be held in the St. Vincent de Paul Hall, Lismore.

3rd week: Wednesday 10th May at 10.45am to 12.45pm
At 6 months: Wednesday 26th October at 10.45am to 12.45pm

CODE is free of charge.
Topics covered in CODE include diabetes explained, risk factors, signs and symptoms, healthy eating, physical activity, personal goal setting, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. Our flexible approach allows the sessions to be tailored to meet the self identified needs of each group.
