Diabetes Ireland invites applications from suitably qualified Podiatrists to work as part of an integrated high risk footcare service for Cork and Kerry.

As a Podiatrist working in the community, with strong linkages to secondary care services, the postholder will have the vision and drive to deliver a diabetes footcare programme. You will provide optimal diagnoses and treatment in order to improve outcomes for patients who are at increased risk of, or have developed foot complications and make timely referrals as deemed necessary.
You will be responsible for the development and continued provision of a quality, responsive and effective footcare service to both prevent deterioration in foot health in the allocated caseload and to minimize the necessity for hospital admissions for limb amputations across all care groups.
You will provide education and training to patients so that together, disease prevention can be optimised in the population.

Each candidate must on the closing date of competition hold:
- BSc (Hons) in Podiatry of the National University of Ireland or an equivalent qualification
Or
- Be on the list of podiatrists/ chiropodists approved by the Health Service Executive to practice in the publicly funded health service on or before the 30 April 2010.
And
- have a minimum of one year satisfactory post qualification clinical experience.
And
- Have the clinical and administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the role.
Salary: The salary range for the post is between €35,672 to €41,856 based on relevant experience.
The posts are part of the HSE Waiting Time Initiative and are for one year.
