Over 140 people with Type 2 diabetes attended Diabetes Ireland’s second education webinar on Thursday 10 September. The guest speaker on the night was Ms Ailish Condron, Clinical Diabetes Nurse Specialist, Diabetes Integrated Care, Beaumont Hospital who gave a very informative talk on “Managing illness with Type 2 diabetes”.
Ailish spoke about being prepared so you are best placed to cope when illness strikes, how to manage your blood glucose levels, medication management and when to seek medication attention.
Feedback was very positive following the webinar with comments including:
“I thought the whole presentation and content was very informative. I have had type 2 Diabetes for close on twenty years and to have much of what I have heard and learned over the years restated and updated was an hour well spent. Ms Condon’s presentation was excellent.”
“I found the webinar very informative and very easy to listen to and understand. Well done to the presenter”.
Ms Clair Naughton, Regional Development Officer, Diabetes Ireland, who moderated the webinar said “unfortunately, there was no time for questions following Ms Condron’s presentation due to time constraints but Diabetes Ireland health professional team responded to all the questions received from attendees following the webinar.
During the webinar, attendees were also directed to resources on the Diabetes Ireland website such as the “Living Well with Type 2 diabetes”, “Covid & Diabetes” sections and to our online module Diabetes Smart.
Diabetes Ireland is also launching its group education programme CODE which is for people with Type 2 Diabetes or with a diagnosis of prediabetes online from October. Each programme will have no more than 12 participants facilitated by one of our Diabetes Ireland Nurses or Dietitian. On behalf of Diabetes Ireland, I would like to thank Ailish for an excellent presentation and for sharing her expertise with us. I would also like to thank everyone who attended and the staff of Novo Nordisk for supporting the webinar” added Clair.
