Strong Attendance at ‘Diabetes & Menopause’ Webinar Highlights Growing Interest in Women’s Health

We were delighted to see such a strong turnout at our recent webinar, “Diabetes & Menopause – Practical Tips for a Smoother Journey,” held on Thursday, 3rd April 2025.

The event drew a broad audience, reflecting a growing awareness of the challenges faced by women managing both menopause and diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2).

The webinar featured keynote speaker Olivia McCabe, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Diabetes at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. With over 24 years of experience in diabetes care, Olivia brought a wealth of expertise to the discussion. Her passion for women’s health—particularly the often-overlooked intersection of menopause and diabetes—was evident throughout her engaging presentation.

Attendees gained practical advice on navigating this life stage while living with diabetes, including:

• How hormonal changes during menopause can affect blood glucose levels
• Strategies for adapting diabetes management through menopause
• Tools and tips for feeling more in control and confident in their care

Olivia also shared insights from her recently published article, “Managing Menopause and Type 1 Diabetes,” featured in Diabetes and Cardiology, further underscoring the importance of integrated, gender-sensitive healthcare.

The positive response to the webinar highlights a significant demand for more education and support in this area. We are grateful to all who attended and contributed to the success of this event, and we look forward to hosting more sessions focused on empowering people with diabetes through every stage of life.
