Job Title:  Diabetes Education and Support Co-Ordinator

 

Diabetes Ireland is seeking a Diabetes Education and Support Co-Ordinator and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates.

 

 

As a Diabetes Education and Support Co-Ordinator, you will have knowledge and experience in diabetes care. Working as part of our Diabetes Education and Support Team you will offer a range of accessible, approved and effective diabetes education and support services and programmes for people living with diabetes, their families and healthcare professionals working in diabetes care. You will:

 

  • co-ordinate and deliver CODE, our Type 2 Diabetes Structured Education programme
  • be involved in the development and delivery of our new diabetes emotional well-being programmes to support people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • develop and implement diabetes awareness and prevention campaigns
  • deliver diabetes information sessions to teachers, carers, community groups
  • develop & deliver a mix of in-person and virtual education webinars, workshops and programmes and conferences providing practical support and signposting on all aspects of diabetes
  • oversee and contribute to our various information resource services including our helpline, ezines and magazines.

 

The post offers a good opportunity for you to work continuously promoting education, support and empowerment of people with diabetes and their families together with developing, planning and implementing diabetes awareness campaigns to promote an understanding of diabetes and its associated complications.

 

Qualifications:

 

Candidates must, at the date of appointment to the post:

 

  • Be a Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or a Dietitian registered with the CORU Dietitians Registration Board. Diabetes experience is essential.

 

  • Demonstrate a commitment to and passion for supporting people living with diabetes/chronic conditions and their family members.

 

  • Demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of the challenges of living with diabetes and other related chronic conditions.

Salary: Negotiable.  Other terms and conditions will be confirmed at the job offer stage.

Permanent position with the option to work 28 or 35 hours per week.

 

Location: Home-based plus travel. Attendance in head office for team meetings and other meetings/events as appropriate. Head Office base is also an option. Flexible Options are available.
